Welcome
DREDD has been working on his project DREDD/339 paintings for 6 years now. The paintings have their number as a title. The numbers start from 339, and the last painting will be titled 1 and will consequently complete the series.
Besides paintings, DREDD also contains photographs and films out of his diary AMPM. The first photograph is made on 090803/PM14.14 during the Danceparade in Rotterdam. An openminded expression of an audience member. For this series he photographs primarily 'ruckenfiguren.' He photograhs what others see. He photographs travellers on a journey from a limited life to an eternal one. New: ARTIST IN THE WORLD! Artist and artworld.
The walker-philosopher is, after all, a key figure of the Enlightenment. Jean-Jacques Rousseau admitted in his Confessions that he could "meditate only when I am walking. When I stop, I cease to think; my mind only works with my legs". Wordsworth, Coleridge, Henry David Thoreau and Kierkegaard were among other famous meditative walkers - captured artistically in the Ruckenfigur, the lone wanderer so frequently at the centre of the paintings of the German Romantic, Caspar David Friedrich.
